Animals, Insects, and Plants, oh my!

I just talked to Mr. L and he told me that this month in science students are going to be learning about living things.

Kindergarteners will be learning about Animals, First Graders will be learning about Insects and Second Graders will be learning about Plants.

He mentioned the FOSSweb site as a good place to get information and play science games.

I can't wait to see what you learn about!

My Telephone

I was spending some time at Ms. Marguerita's HealthyTales website and saw this:



She's put up a video of TELEPHONE!  That is so exciting.  Mr. Apple is going to be exercising his biceps, triceps and forearms using this music video.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Oh my!  As I write this, I am watching a lot of parents and students come in to see their teachers.

This is my favorite times of the year because we get to find out how you are doing in school. 

If you need more help in Reading, Writing, Math, or Science, your teachers and parents can work together to help you.

Did you know that Mr. Apple had trouble remembering how to write his name in Kindergarten?  It's true!  I always forgot the silent 'e' at the end.

What to do when you're sick

Did you notice that Mr. L was out sick yesterday?  He was sick with a cold so he stayed home. 

I talked to him this morning about what's the best thing to do when you're sick.  Here is what he said:

  • If you have a fever, you should stay home.  A fever means you have an infection and can give it to other people.
  • Gets lots of sleep.  Get to bed early and sleep a lot.  Sleep helps your body fight the cold.
  • Wash your hands often.  If your hands have germs from your illness, you can give it to other people.  If you wash your hands a lot, you won't get other people sick.
  • Drink lots of water.  You need water to help your body fight the infection.
  • Take a break from exercise.  If you feel sick, it's best to rest and not exercise.  Although exercise is usually good for you, when you're sick, it can make you feel worse.
  • Go to the doctor if you feel really, really sick.  Doctors can give you the right medicines to make you feel better.

I'm glad Mr. L is feeling a little better and is back in school!

Outdoor Activities for Kids

What a nice weekend we just had.  The temperature went higher than 50 degrees which means it's chilly now instead of cold or freezing.

With a good sweater or jacket you can play outside more!

Valentine's Day Dance!

I'm sorry that I've been away for so long.  It's hard to find the time to type when you're doing so much exercise and healthy eating like me.

Today I got to go to the TALES Valentine's Day Dance and it was great! 

I had so much fun watching all the children dance to the great music.  The parents and staff at TALES did a great job putting that dance together.  I hope we have another dance soon!
